Basement Waterproofing

Basement Waterproofing

Water in basements can cause a host of problems including mold, foundation issues, pest, rodents and even radon gas. On new homes drain tile is placed on the exterior of the home and helps keep water from entering a homes basement.

Some older homes have clay drain tiles that are highly susceptible to root intrusion and are brittle and break easily.

Some waterproofing systems like box drain systems damage your homes footings and don’t allow for the proper amount of concrete to be placed back over the system.

Our system does not damage the footing in any way and allows for the same concrete slab thickness to be used.

After a home is backfilled it would not make sense to dig up the outside of the home for new drain tile. The best way to install new drain tile is on the inside of the home.

Four inch round drain tile is the most ideal size and shape to divert water away from your basement and to a sump basin.

We use a filtered drain tile to prevent dirt from entering the tile. We then backfill the trench with washed stone which acts as a filter media and allowing the water to get to the drain tile.

We use clear covers for inspection and our covers are sealed in place to create an airtight seal. Most covers are flimsy ABS plastic, ours are thick plexiglass material rated for over 200 lbs.

Why is an airtight
system Important?

Radon gas finds cracks and openings in your basement and can get in through a basement wa-terproofing system. Unlike other and most basement waterproofing systems, ours is air tight allowing the radon to be properly mitigated outside your Battery back-up sump pumps offer home.

Battery back-up sump pumps offer peace of mind when you are away or during power outages. Our battery system is water tight and ready for the next storm.
Our system also allows for a constant drain for your own dehumidifier.
Our HI-PERDRAIN system allows water to flow into your basement sump basin without the worry of radon gas seeping into your home.

Basement Waterproofing done RIGHT!

To future proof the system we install drainage system inspection ports that allow for inspection of the sys-tem. In addition they give the system the ability to be washed out in case of clogging. If the discharge line ever freezes, we install an anti-ice overflow to prevent water from backing up into the home.

After we get the water outside of the house the job is not done. We want to carry the water away from the foundation and install a bubbler pot to allow the water to drain into the yard and away from your home’s foundation. This is where many companies will cut corners and deposit the water right on the outside of the foundation instead of further out into the yard which can cause additional problems.

Crawlspace Vapor Barrier

Sometimes a vapor barrier is needed when homeowners have a dirt floor in their crawl space. This prevents water, moisture, and hazardous gases from entering your home through your crawl space.

This process includes:

  • Excavating and Leveling the Soil
  • Spray foam insulate gets placed on any minor cracks around foundation to help seal crawl space from water prior to insulation install.
  • Installing 6mil radonaway woven vapor barrier with 3-mil scrim on floor of crawl space with tape on all seams and taped to foam on walls.
  • Installing moisture resistant EPS (expanded polystyrene) foam insulation board on entire perimeter of crawl space.

The effects of mold can cause permanent health problems

Common Types of Mold

Aspergillus – Members of this genus are reported to cause a variety of opportunistic infections of the ears and eyes.

Chaetomium – People who are exposed to Chaetomium may be predisposed to permanent neurological damage of the myelin sheath.

Stachybotrys – This fungus may produce a trichothecene mycotoxin which is poisonous by inhalation. The mycotoxin is also reported to be a liver and kidney carcinogen.
Two square inches of mold can release
more than 2 million spores!

Mold Remediation

We take care of mold in attics, in basements, or anywhere mold grows. We use foaming and fogging methods and protocols to not only destroy the mold and airborne contaminants, but literally extract even the roots of the mold out of wood surfaces.

What we do:

  • Find and eliminate the source
  • Decontaminate the affected areas.
  • Install effective systems to maintain the purified environment.
We use green, biodegradable, non-toxic, non-corrosive decontamination products that are completely safe for children and pets. The products are so safe, they are EPA approved for use in hospitals, nursing homes, and even restaurants.

Radon Mitigation

Radon is the leading cause of death in the home. It kills more people every year than drunk driving. Radon gas kills a person every 25 minutes. It is a colorless, odorless gas that when inhaled creates a chemical reaction in your lungs which causes cancer.

By law, you can’t sell your home without disclosing high levels to buyers.

Our radon mitigation is geared towards home owners not home sellers. We use one of the most powerful fans on the market. We also install an alarm system that alerts you if the fan ever stops working.

We guarantee a level below 2.0 and install an electronic continuous radon detector to ensure your air is safe today and in the future.
